AN EXAMPLE
A new youth in your program has been isolated from the group. She has made tentative advances toward being included but has given up each time the group responds negatively.
An attentive listening response would be:
"You look like you are feeling lonely when you come here because the rest of the group knows each other so well"
OR
"You looked unhappy when nobody agreed with your idea"
Think of other attentive listening responses for this situation then move on to practice what you have just learned.
